Looking Good for Your Video

Makeup not only can hide imperfections, it can accentuate the beautiful. However, makeup does not always appear the same on camera as it does in person. Shine can look youthful and beautiful to the eye and makeup artists have used it in their styling for just that reason. However, a shiny face will reflect the light and cause hot spots. These hot spots create a look of nervousness, but most of all it is a distraction to the message you are trying to convey in your video. Whether you are trying to sell something or just give information about your services, a sweaty, shiny face is unappealing.

The best way to combat this is to bring your favorite powder to the set. Something that produces a matte finish. There are professional TV makeups on the market, and they work very well. However, just a simple skin tone matte powder will do the trick. Guys too have to be conscious of oily skin. I have had a few clients that sat down in front of the camera and just didn’t look that good. They looked tired, stressed, frankly they were unappealing to look at. In just a minute of applying powder to the forehead and T zone (the nose, on top of the cheekbones) these men were transformed into professional, on camera talent.

More may not always be better, limit the use of shine, and bring powder with you to the set.
